So if the person who does it doesn't take proper precautions you could get a potentially life-threatening infection. If they make a mistake you could be rendered impotent. Quoting an article in The New Scientist from March of 2005:
"Although only 3 per cent of people with such body piercings ever seek medical advice, about 60 per cent suffer associated health problems, according to a survey of 147 people with nipple or genital piercings, or both."
Now I don't know if that sample size is significant, and I obviously hope you don't have any problems. But the bottom line is it is an unnecessary and significant procedure, so you are taking a risk you don't have to take.
