All I know is that my aunt and my cousin go to curves and they both like it. Sorry, I can't lend more help to that subject.
However, I've found what works best for me is to have a trainer because they will push you to do what you should be doing and not just what you want to do. So, maybe for you a gym membership and a trainer are a good option? It gets pricey though, which is why I don't do that anymore.
