this is what happens when greedy corporations get greedy.
(referring to sony)
Square-Enix is obviously making a smart move here, they realize that the ps3 is beyond the average gaming market's income and would lost money on thier development of final fantasy titles if they put all thier chips in one boat.
the PS3 is overdeveloped and ahead of its time, its quite sad, gaming has come a long way in the last 20 years, and really it's development is at a snails pace because theres only so much money to devote to R&D in the technology market.
we're still putting around with our basic control pads, not quite the VR/internetcyberexistance/body suit immersive experiences we were hoping to see in our lifetime accessable to the average user.
I wonder what would develop if it became like the vehicular market, and people started developing technological constructs that cost you 10,000 dolloars to move into your home, just how fast would the industry evolve and develop at this point?
sadly thats a pipedream due to stuff like exclusive titles. Open archetecture gaming would be nice, some sort of standard would be nice. Then console gaming would begin to approach the plateau that PC gaming has. (theres really only 2 PC gaming markets, PC's and Mac's)
man, I derailed my own post. ah well,
TLDR version: PS3 is good, but too expensive, and square-enix knows this. No doubt some exec somewhere is licking his wounds over the loss of exclusivity because they can't leverage it as a selling point for thier system anymore.
<--28 next month, and gaming since pong. /hardcore
but not 600$ a system hardcore.
