The Durex tingle lube has menthol in it. The amount varies from batch to batch (within certain agreed limits).
That explains the minty smell and the flare up.
The issue with ID lubes is that they have not been tested as medical devices, so there is no certainty that they will not weaken condoms. Always buy a lube that has been approved for use with condoms (in Europe, these will be marked with the CE symbol with a licence number underneath).
