Hmm. Window shopping while eating ice cream is not, to me, a great first date. All of us are different - there's no recipe. I wouldn't like the window-shopping thing because it would have to be near shops where it'll probably be crowded, loud, no privacy to talk with any kind of intimacy, and I'm also not that big on ice cream.
I'd much rather a drink in a cosy bar or café, in the evening. That means that if the date goes well, you could move on to dinner if you like each other enough.
I also like going for a walk on the beachfront or sitting somewhere outdoors that's pretty, and not too crowded. Ice cream here would be nicer to me. This would be a good afternoon date.
A first date on the beach is by far the best I've had - on a hot day I mean. Nothing like a bit of skin, skimpy bathing suits, sand, sea and water sports, sun and salt to make you feel alive.

Whether we write or speak or do but look
We are ever unapparent. What we are
Cannot be transfused into word or book.
Our soul from us is infinitely far.
However much we give our thoughts the will
To be our soul and gesture it abroad,
Our hearts are incommunicable still.
In what we show ourselves we are ignored.
The abyss from soul to soul cannot be bridged
By any skill of thought or trick of seeming.
Unto our very selves we are abridged
When we would utter to our thought our being.
We are our dreams of ourselves, souls by gleams,
And each to each other dreams of others' dreams.
