So, if you had a couple of 5 year old kids and you gave them the option of eating a healthy meal consisting of the 5 food groups, or a bowl of smarties and they picked the bowl of smarties for dinner, you'd figure that they knew best eh and feed them the bowl of smarties.
The corporations that make pet food soak their poison in flavour enhancers in order to trick the animal into eating it. Simple as that. They know that dumb consumers will select their pet food strictly on whether their pet eats it or not.
