One of the coolest fireworks shows I had the opportunity to see was out in San Francisco Bay, out in front of Fisherman's Wharf. We were staying at a hotel in the vicinity with a view of the bay from a large balcony, so we spent the evening of the Fourth on our balcony. Out in the bay they had a few barges stationed at intervals for the fireworks show. Each barge shot off the same pattern of fireworks, in sync with the others. As the show went on, fog began to roll in through the Golden Gate, taking over the first barge, and closing in on the second. It was beautiful to see the echo of fireworks in the fog, turning the shapes of the fog into magnificent colored cloud sculptures, and to see the other barge within sight shooting off its fireworks into the clear.
It was as if man and nature worked in perfect concert that night to make for a spectacular show.
