Well, I think I could have been more clear with my previous post: they have created an effective + fancy + low-resource interface. In fact, the eye candy displayed in many beryl videos works quite well on systems that would have a hard time running Vista even without all the eye candy.
Problem is, the videos don't focus on any of the things most users would actually give a damn about: the simple, unobtrusive things. Those things are shown here and there, but the videos place too much focus on pointless features, like the flaming windows.
