There are many situations where traditional P2P is better than BitTorrent (which is, technically,. another P2P netowrk but we all know what you meant). For instance, try downloading the song Tarzan Boy by
Baltimora.

Personally, I use
KCeasy. It's a
giFT client. That means that it uses a set of independent plugins to access various P2P networks, simultaneously. I have plugins for
Ares,
Gnutella,
OpenFT and
OpenFT networks.
