I'm not trying to be a walking infomercial here, but I have to throw in my two cents about the Braun Tassimo coffeemaker. WOW!!!!
One of my colleagues at work put one in his department's breakroom and made me a cappucino with it. I went home and told Grancey how fabulous it was and she bought one for me that day. It's a little expensive ($170 at Bed Bath and Beyond) but the coffee it makes is unbelievable. The coffee comes packaged in single serving "T-Disks" and the coffeemaker reads the barcode on each T-Disk. It heats the exact amount of water to the exact temperature for each different kind of coffee that goes with it. There are Gevalia lattes, cappucinos, cremas, regular American blends, European blends, hot chocolate, and even Earl Grey.
After the cost of the machine, the T-Disks come in packages of 8 or 16 and cost about $8 per pack ($1 per cup of coffee). I promised Grancey that if we got one I'd never buy another Starbucks and we would save tons of money in the long run. She told me last weekend that since I drink a helluva lot more of these things than I used to of Starbucks then I'm losing money.
She's probably right, because it makes a pretty fucking good cup of coffee.
EDIT: Target now sells them with Maxwell House brand disks instead of Gevalia at about half price.
