Wow, lots of good input here folks:
shakran: I never said I was 100% against a Subaru, it was just odd that we have already had the conversation with her friend, then seeing one stuck, then getting the suggestion. I'm not against them at all. And although I'm from sunny SoCali, I'm quickly learning the tricks for snow driving, mostly out of necessity, lol.
ILow: I was thinking about snow tires, but my uncle who lives here in the Denver area says it simply doesn't snow enough here normally to make them worth the investment. This season is the most snow Denver has seen in like 20+ years, so figure that into the equasion.
cyrnel: We haven't decided yet wether or not this will be my primary driving car, or a bad weather 2nd vehicle. Mrs. Coaster would like us to buy a new one and have it be a primary car for me. Of course that means a $25,000+ investment, and although we can afford it, my conservative side winces at something like that. We moved to CO to get out of debt, not take on more. I like the idea of getting something older but well maintained and using it as a road warrior, but we have only a 2 car garage.
