I wanted to be a gentic engineer.
After a couple years in UC Davis as a Genetics major, my dad took me aside and told me, "You are getting B's in your science classes. You are going to be a lousy scientist. I'm paying for this education. Do something else."
I realized he was right. I looked around me and saw brilliant people who understood the subjects far more deeply than I did. I wanted to be a scientist ever since I was in first grade, but it was obvious that I didn't have the brain-power for it.
It still makes me sad, even though I'm retty successful in my non-science occupation.
