It's amazing what you learn when you videotape yourself talking or presenting. Also, some message systems now allow you to listen to your recording.
And if you can't think of something to say - hang up. No one will know. Call back when you figure out how to deal with the unexpected one-way conversation or just say "it's _______, please give me a call back about ______."
