the only reason i mentioned the age thing is that i cant really tell if my reaction to collins first as singer rather than drummer and then as solo artist are conditioned by my high school obsession wtih genesis or not.
as far as genesis goes, i'd say the lamb is my favorite (i used to know the lyrics to the whole thing--and i still remember most of them--but only when i hear the record, which is not often as i dont own it and am not terribly interested in having it around); nursery cryme and foxtrot; selling england by the pound, the live record with "watcher of the skies" on it; the old famous charisma compilation with a very odd single on it i cant remember any more; selling england by the pound (tho i admit to a weakness for the title song, and am probably wrong about where i should put this, but no matter)--and then the trick of the tale and the one after that. then i stopped.
i saw peter gabriel quite a few times live--first solo tuor through "so" which i didnt really like and the show for which was the least interesting of all of them. probably my fave was the tour for the third record--great visuals, great show. but he doesnt really interest me any more, and i do not have much in the way of nostalgia reflexes.
