Met my wife online in '99. Got married in '03. I left everything behind in Europe, just brought a couple of suitcases and myself. Have no regrets whatsoever.
Online relationships, or any long distance ones, are tougher than you may think. Some have the stomach or the heart for it, some don't.
It worked for me quite beautifully, but all in all I can't say it's something I would recommend. Too many nuts out there.
