I had a digital camera stolen from the mailroom of a school where I used to work. The sad part here is that this is actually the expected outcome. If you leave a small, valuable object unattended in a public place, it will usually be stolen. If you park a bike without locking it adequately, you expect it to be stolen quickly.
We live with the expectation of dishonesty.
