My favorite type of music is the music I create.
Other than that it varies depending on my mood. I used to be into the whole goth/industrial scene (back in the early 90's). During that time I still enjoyed listening to everything.
In my collection you'll find classical, jazz, early punk, "real" country, singer song-writer, industrial, goth, techno, world pop, bluegrass, top 40 pop, rock, acid rock, classic rock, glam rock, emo, metal, prog and other stuff ... the list goes on and on.
My point is ... I don't really have a favorite style of music. The music needs to be good; which is very subjective. To me good music doesn't try too hard to be anything other than what it is.
Some people say good music is un-pretentious. However, glam, prog and other hyper-stylized music is overly pretentious in and of itself.
