I know in leon county, fl we use scantron-like ballots. Use a sharpie to bubble in your vote and then feed it into the machine. The machine keeps an electronic count and the paper ballot is stored safely and available for a recount if needed. We were doing this when palm beach county and others were having "hanging chad" issues. The rest of the country should follow our model.
