I'd like to say I have the answer, but I don't. The reason I'm adding to this is that I have an animated gif that isn't animated when I open it with my viewer, but it is animated in IE. I wanted to e-mail it, but the times I tried, it wasn't working.
I'm hoping whoever answers your question will answer mine as well.
