I agree in the case that the person doesn't call and say he or she will be late. I'm cool with people explaining their tardiness (life can have unexpected turns now and again). I'm not cool if you have a cell phone 2 feet away from you and you know you're going to be so late that you'll inconvenience other people and don't call.
