There is no consitutionally allowed punishment appropriate for this kind of crime if the allegations are true. We do not allow the "cruel and unusual", but that's what these folks deserve. They deserve something horrible, but even if they get the death penalty, that's not what they'll get.
That said, I still don't necessarily support the death penalty given how much it's been misused in the recent past. This case, however, is one of those occassions that maybe it's appropriate.
Although unaddressed in the OP, I think that what really stinks is that the system failed Marcus multiple times on multiple levels.
