Well, let me put your mildly disturbed mind to rest. I had quite a few credit cards when I was younger. I didn't really give a shit about paying them back and consequently they haunted my credit report for a time. I've cleared the debt, but it took a while and my credit mojo (or whatever you want to call it) suffered. I've had several people comment on it, including my employer after they ran a rudimentary background check.
