Don't expect miracles. The AG won't get involved unless the numbers are large, and the BBB has no teeth. They can give the company a bad report, but since that's already the case, nothing has changed.
I believe federal law says that you don't have to return unsolicited merchandise. Of course, magazines have no value once they're not current, anyway.
I wouldn't worry about a thing, unless your name is Dweezil Xavier Throckmorton, or something else highly distinctive. Even a slightly common name, with no address or social, shouldn't be enough to enable them to mess with your credit.
Side note: It's mildly disturbing to hear that your credit is "iffy." It implies that there's someone out there you decided not to pay.
