Got to second Jon Snow from GRR Martin's Song of Ice and Fire series, but he's my second favorite character. Eddard Stark is my favorite. I'm also really impressed by both Jamie and Tyrion Lannister (and all the Lannisters really - hateful people, most of them, but really well written), and Sandor Clegane.
Benedict from Zelazney's Amber Series, Francis Sandow from several other Zelazney books and stories, and Yama from Lord of Light.
Rudy Solis from Barbara Hambly's Darwath Trilogy.
Morrolan from Steven Brust's Taltos and Khaavren series. Also, Vlad's Grandfather.
Voilodion Ghagnasdiak (only for the name) from an episode in three of Michael Moorcock's books.
Mr Croup from Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. "You can't make an Omlette without killin' a few people."
Brendan Doyle from Tim Power's The Anubis Gates.
