This is something that happens with Depo- she probably just got you in an easily-bruisable muscle.
Off that topic, I would get off Depo. There are many problems I encountered with it in my two years on it. (After a year plus some months, I am still getting sporatic periods.) Also, after two years, you can supposedly become sterile.
