It all just depends on how enthusiastically you are going at it and what you are paying attention to. I used to have sex several times a week for 30-45 minutes at a time. An hour and a half when we really dragged it out, and only 15 minutes when we were *hurrying*. Changing positions ever few minutes and a little lube go a long way toward keeping everybody involved and happy.
It just takes some exploration. You can figure out pretty quickly what kind of sex is most satisfying for your partner and what your own preferences are. If one or both of you doesn't have a consistently strong preference for how long it lasts or how enthusiastically you have to be going at it, a wonderfully varied sex life can result... with 5-minute quickies and steamy hour-and-a-half sessions to choose from. That's pretty much the way I am, so the length of in-and-out I can take is something I adjust based on my partner.
