Here in mid-May I'm still getting navels for 59 cents a pound in Central California; that's a little longer than usual, though even on the average they're still cheap into April. We either have a longer navel season out here, or put more in storage: more and more of the navels I buy now have at least one flat side, which means they've probably been boxed up with a bunch of other oranges in cold storage for a good long while.
