When Trivial Pursuit is WRONG!?!
My experience through the years of playing Trivial Pursuit is that the answers they give are occasionally wrong. Sometimes they are a little off, sometimes they are dead wrong. I'm curious to hear everyone's stories about trivial pursuit questions that they knew to be wrong. You can include the correct answer, what you did about it, whatever you like.
I am a scientist, so the science and nature category is my favorite. There was a question that I recall that asked, "What is the capacity of the adult human bladder?" I am paraphrasing, so forgive any inaccuracy. The game said the that correct answer was 8 ounces. Now, this is a very poorly phrased question to begin with. But we can assume that they are after the "average" capacity. The correct answer would be more like 16 ounces. The question is really more complicated than that, because the capacity of your bladder is never really reached. You feel the urge to urinate when your bladder is about 1/2 full. As it approaches 2/3 full that urge becomes unbearable. Somewhere above 2/3 full and you will lose bladder control. Way more than you ever wanted to know about bladders, huh?
To me, either of those is WAY too small. I'm not an average guy, so maybe I don't have an average bladder. But I have had the unfortunate experience of draining my bladder into a 44 ounce cup when stuck in traffic for 2 hours. I damn near FILLED that cup. If I had to estimate my bladder capacity, I would put it somewhere north of 32 ounces.
Ha, now what you thought was starting out as a thread on Trivial Pursuit has led to the urgent voiding of my bladder whilst marooned in a traffic jam! What is your best story?
