There was criticism. I don't know if it was vast. I personally think that the majority of people, regardless of if they admit it or not, like to have the cheques. I don't claim that every aspect of society has suffcient funding, but prosperity cheques are more in line with the conservative platform for which the vast majority of Albertans voted for. While part of me agrees, in principle, with dumping the money into education, a bigger part believes that "vast sums + bueracracy = waste". I may as well waste it on myself than have someone else waste it somewhere else.

I'm certain that there are many charities that were thankfull that you, and other leftwing albertans donated your first $400, and they will be thankful again when you donate your next.

Alright, I admit that that was a little trollish, but there is so much hypocrisy inherent in everyone that accepts and spends the cheques, then complains that they got one in the first place.
