Yeah, Daley is kind of kooky. He's had a few good ideas for Chicago, but he's embroiled in scandal after scandal and believes his own hype to the point that I'm often left to wonder what planet he thinks he's living on.
I believe his comment about demanding gun owners attempt to justify themselves to him was a somewhat rhetorical statment. Having said that, if he was truly concerned with saving the children of his city, he'd pay more attention to some of the neighborhoods under his rule rather than challenge the gun owners of the entire state.
