Having the right, or the wrong, teacher means
everything. And that's not just in relious matter, either. Religion, it seems to me, to be too impotant of a subject to left to the devices of a 16 year old teacher...but what do I know?
My wife is a semi-practicing Catholic. Me? I'm agnostic, bordering on the atheist. Mrs. O'Rights wants our 3 year old son brought up in the Catholic church. Which, for me, is really no big deal, as I will also teach him to think for himself, and not to take everything at face value.
Some in the O'Rights clan, however, take a different view. I have been reminded of the "O'Rights" family persecution, at the hands of the Papists, in 15/16 century Switzerland. Beheadings, prison starvation, lands seized...that kind of thing. I'm asked how I could consent to an "O'Rights" being raised in the Catholic Church. Geez. Bitter much? It was only 500 years ago.
The point is...hell, I forgot my point.
Oh, yeah. The point is my son will be raised with a religious background, while being taught, at the same time, to think for himself, and to question. It's the best that I can do for him.
