If you're really worried about it, get it done somewhere that you can hide it easily, such as your shoulderblade or your upper arm. Those are generally considered the more tactful places to have them, for exactly that reason. Aside from that, if it's on your back a girl isn't likely to encounter it until she knows you fairly well, at which point it's not really an issue. Unless you're in the habit of walking around shirtless, but that doesn't seem like your style to me.
As long as you're not walking around with sleeves and Thug Life across your abdomen, I don't really see that there'd be much of an issue.
As far as piercings go, it's pretty acceptable for guys to pierce one or both ears these days. Any other location you may want to be a bit wary of, though.
