I don't want to sound like a Saddam sympathizer here but isn't the he on trial for killing 148 people who supposedly tried to orchestrate an assasination against him? If his defense team can show that those people were seditous, in accordance with the definition of Iraqi law just what crime was committed?
The whole trial is a joke. It's not as if 'not guilty' is an option and even if it was, we'd just bring out more charges against him. We should have shot him in the spider hole and been done with it. Instead we have this dog and pony show and because of it people have died.
