Rekna, I think the ideal being followed here is as was true during Nuremberg, ie.
"Never again."
The theory is that public trials, supposedly fair, of world leaders will lead to
greater accountability on their part, hopefully suppressing tyrants.
No one person should be able to say
"He's obviously guilty, let's save time and money and kill them now."
Thus tyrants are born.
