Ideally I would like to see the election happen on the compromise schedule (sometime in early Feb) but it looks like the Liberals are digging in their heels and demanding the rule of Parliamentary procedure rather than the will of Parliament.
I think this is one of Martin's biggest mistakes and the opposition leaders are playing this well. The only person who will be responsible for a Christmas election is Paul Martin.
I don't think this election is a waste of time and money at all. The Liberals have lost the confidence of Parliament as well as the nation. If they are to be re-elected they need to be elected on a clear mandate.
My only fear is that this whole thing will push Harper and the Conservatives into power.
