hey,
thanks for the getarrested link. Since the site is actually under the watch of Fox, they actually might pay attention to this, unlike those petitiononline.com things.....
I admit, I've only seen A.D. no more than a half-dozen times, but when I can, I try to catch the damn show. [I'm busy in college, for pete's sakes, don't watch much tv, but when I do, AD is near the top of the list].
Plus, the whole methodology of capturing Nielsen ratings is flawed and in need of a major revamping. New York Times' sunday magazine did a really good article on it, in July, I believe.
Why are the ratings so high for such crap on TV now ? Well, the people watching such dribble have nothing else more intellectually stimulating to do. The common perception among the younger generation is that TV, by definition is pretty much crap, save for the few shows like AD and some other stuff we history channel, pbs, and maybe another show or two...And honestly, I don't have time to watch TV (Nor do I make time for it - it's usually anti-social activity). The only TV show I watch on a regular basis is Law and order the svu one, taking place among a group of 7 or so of us; [plus cuddling with girls down the hall] ...
Also, an episode or two during a week of simpsons, which the roomie has on dvd.
Alas, that's the end of my diatribe against television. I'd write more, but I got better and more important things to do [than tv]. *working on his 10 pg. philosophy paper, on language of thought hypothesis*
cya,
will.
