I really can't understand how well-paid "professionals" at Fox can't find a way to market one of the best and most beloved comedies of all time. With the quality of the show and the accolades its garnered, you'd think Fox would hype the shit out of it, but I've seen far more advertising for useless reality shows and awful cookie cutter sitcoms that don't have nearly the amount of talent or quality that Arrested Development has.
I really wonder what kind of effect DVDs and Tivo have had on shows like AD. I mean, it's pretty much widely considered to be a fantastic and hilarious show, but it's not exactly water cooler material for most people. And with the ability to record it for later or just wait for the DVD, I assume most people just miss it when it airs because they don't need to know exactly who did what or who got dumped and who got fired, etc., for the next day's discussions at work/school.
