It sure is. A double standard, I mean. A few years back, a group of cheerleaders were kicked off the cheerleading squad after participating in a sex-for-points game with a group of football players. The football players remained on the team.
Part of it, though, might be that cheerleaders are essentially volunteers chosen for the purpose of representing the team as symbols, while players are chosen for the purpose of winning. Players are chosen for their skills, while cheerleaders are chosen as much for what they represent as for how good they are at dancing and tumbling.
So I think that mitigates the double standard somewhat, while not dismissing it altogether.
