Reggie, the alligator dumped in Machado Lake over the summer when he became too big to for his owner's backyard pond, stayed out of sight.
But Irwin vows he'll be back.
"It's a promise," he told Los Angeles City Councilwoman Janice Hahn, who accompanied the shaggy-haired Aussie and asked him to return next spring, the Breeze reported.
"We'll be waiting for you," Hahn replied, according to the Breeze.
So, in April or May, Irwin will return to Machado Lake, along with his traps and other gear, and he's confident of trapping Reggie, succeeding where three other gator wranglers failed.
One to two weeks should do the trick, Irwin reportedly said.
"I can't wait to come back to have a go at this one," Irwin said, according to the Breeze. "But it's going to be a challenge."
