Yeah, the CPU doesn't lock you automatically onto the closest opponent (as in Urban Reign, for example), so even though that haymaker should've connect on Fat Joe's fat face, it didn't since you locked on Busta Rhymes, or some such shit.
Anyway, I love that game! Too bad we can't do the story mode with any of the rappers, but the "create-a-fighter" system was very well thought out. My best style combination is 1) Martial arts (Fat Joe is ridiculously easy to beat with this style's fast moves), followed by 2) Wrestling (combining good gapples with kung fu flavor is awesome), then 3) Submissions. With this combo, I increase all my attributes (upper body strength, lower body strength, toughness, health and - most importantly - speed) pretty evenly and get some sweet grapple moves, which can end fights quickly without relying on the environment too much.
My toughest fight is always the last FFA against Pockets, Warren G (or Lil' Flip) and the tattoo guy (I forget his name), who kept countering all my freakin' strikes! The fight against Fat Joe and Busta is a tough one, too, since Method Man (Ticaaaaall!) is all busted up. The best way to win is to go after Fat Joe first, since Busta will only focus on submissions against MM, which doesn't affect the latter's health bar too much. If you go against BR, then Fat Joe will smear MM against the ground in 10 sec flat.
