Formatting your system would not affect your dad's systems unless you were the ICS host for all access. Something else is going on.
What do you mean by:

Do you receive any error messages? Same problem on all systems?
You're sure the router is at 192.168.1.1?
What address is your system picking up automatically? (do the ipconfig thing)
