in the age of proffesionalism in sport, aggression has come about due to prizemoney and bonuses. so really its become a little vain.
theres nothing wrong with a little bit of biff..especially in the contact sports. hell, if i didnt see a biff in state of origin, id be disappointed. but what happens onfield stays onfield. these days its becoming personal,a nd the media has a fair bit to do with it. post match conferences seem to be knitpicking and causing friction between players. ive notices this of late especially in tennis.
i do agree, that australia does do very well considering its populace. but we also need to take into consideration that a nation like india for example with a population of 1 billion people, does not have the coaching and nurchuring of sportspeople like we do. we have institutions where we can afford that for our kids... half the pakistani cricket team was found playing cricket on the streets....also tells us why first world countries are usually on top of the medal tallies in the olympics, and why large african thrid world nations tend to be at the bottom
i must say i did rejoice when bangladesh beat the aussies in that one day a few months back now...
