A tip...go to the Hancock tower, but not to the observatory. If you want a good view, go to the bar on the 96th floor above the Signature room. You don't have ot pay to see the view and you can enjoy a drink relaxing. The Sear's Tower is nice, but with the weather lately, you probably wouldn't see much and the wait is a big waste of time imo.
I haven't been to the polish village although typically the neighborhoods don't have as many cabs as the downtown area. I also recommend the Museum of Art, is is very good although unless it's a free afternoon can be about $10-$15. I would definitely take in the parks Millienium Park is nice. Lincoln Park is very relaxing, if you go north. The zoo in the park is free and pretty decent.
I hope you have a great visit to Chicago. Dress in layers. It's been getting cold lately.
