myspace.com works rather well, depending on who/what you're looking for.
it is a lot easier to wade through listings since the advanced search was re-enabled.
As with all the other ones there is a decent whack of fake profiles/people who can't read a user agreement (stupid high school freshmen girls, mostly)/general weirdos, but probably no more then any other site.
If you're into local music, (which i'm not), you'll find a lot of resources/bands on there too.
Only thing to watch out for is the amount of BLINDINGLY *horrible* colors and flashing things and sounds and videos on some of the profiles, I swear to god it's like Geocities circa 1997 exploded on some of those peoples profiles.
In other words I would recomend going in there with firefox armed with a decent adblock list
Not only for the flash ad's that they like to put up, but for the crap that people put in their profile intentionally...
As far as how it works, works pretty good for me!
