I think that... erm... liquids in general seem to be the thing these days - not only spitting, but all kinds of cum swapping, creampies, snowballs, bukkakes and so on.
I have nothing against it, personally, as long as it's not too explicit (spiting into each ohters faces or situations which involve buckets in any shape or form are too hardcore for me).
