Okay, so we like to watch porn sometimes. Variety is the spice of life. Now, anyone who has watched porn over the years has probably also noticed that it has trends. These are the trends, as I see them.

Early 90's - I would say it was fake boobs.
Late 90's - it was definitely the dawning of full shaving

We're not the target. They target persons who purchase porn in large quantities, which is not the "sexually-interesting" people of America. It's a small group--typically male, typically lonely, with lots of money and no interest in going out to meet women and get the real thing. The porn industry is aimed toward these men, those who purchase determine the fads.

If you want vanilla porn, you'll probably have to create a porn fad/new industry for it or just watch the cheesy old stuff from the 70s or the cheesy free stuff. And if you're going to try to start a new fad for that, good luck, because most of the people who demand this kind of porn are generally not willing to purchase it, and/or not willing to purchase it in large enough quantities to support the growth of said industry/fad.

Yeah I agree that the drooling is not the most attractive. It seems like a by product and kind of out of place. As far as trends go, the porn industry has to adapt to the market just like any other company.

I'm pretty sure the why has to do with the growing popularity of watching porn that involves swapping fluids, phenomena like bukkake. Any bodily fluid that can be swapped seems to have increased in popular porn flicks, really. It's not just spit. Cum swapping and all the other stuff that has been mentioned in this thread has also increased noticeably and I don't think this is unrelated to spitting.

I'm curious to know if the trend has a positive correlation with the increased awareness and caution in the real life about STDs. Sort of a psychological reactance thing, like during the Victorian era where society repressed people sexually to such an extreme that people reacted by an increase in all forbidden behaviors in private (which subsequently resulted in an increase in STDs like syphillis). Like by doing this in porn, people can watch various things they fantasize about doing, but are too afraid to do in real life because of the very real fear of contracting something.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons that I'm not that into hardcore porn. I find the use of bodily fluids (as well as anal, truthfully) to be a turnoff in porn.
