I dunno about that shite, but here in Florida (Indian River to be exact) if you go boating at night you will see glow in the dark bacteria in the water.
It's really awesome to see. You can swirl your hand through the water and it will light up green. So awesome to go sailing at night and see a green wake behind your boat. Only seen it a few times though.
