I played it on the Xbox. From what I understand the only real differance in the console versions is a bit more sharpness on the textures with the Xbox vs PS2 and the loading time is twice as fast on the Xbox(I think it was said 2 sec vs. 4 sec.). The PS2 players that I've talked to seemed happy with their versions reguardless. I went with the Xbox version for the following reasons: The sharper graphics, a bit faster load times and well mostly because I like the way the Xbox controller fits in my hand compared to the PS2 controller.
Also about the Xbox version - no HD support other than 480p is supported, but it does support widescreen. No clue about Progressive Scan on PS2.
For the controls, speaking XBox version here again, your main controls are the Right and Left sticks, then the right and left triggers. The right stick controls all your basic functions for opening things, picking up stuff, climbing, etc. It's pretty easy to learn, for example, you push the stick forward or back to open doors. Push forward to open doors outward and backward for inward. I guess it's kinda like dragging your mouse around... The left stick is walking around and the triggers rotate your camera. The Y button shows your current sanity, the B button is to swap chars.(only at certain points) and you hold A for run.
