Losing weight.. in my lower half
So I've lost about 30 pounds in the past 4 months. I went from a size 42 pant to a size 36.
Unfortunately, I still have REALLY fat thighs and a fatty ass. Yes, that sounds like something a chick would say, but its true for me, for instance my thighs at their widest point are around 26". If I stand up straight with my feet a regular distance apart, they sit against each other, and when I walk they rub together. My upper body is fine, I do have a spare tire but its getting smaller, and my calfs are great and getting small as well.
Is there any way to increase the rate that I'll lose weight in the areas I've mentioned? It doesn't look/feel like I've lost any there at all.
I've been doing weights, then about 30-50 minutes of cardio 4 or 5 times a week (eliptical, bike). I'm expecting to hear that I'll just have to wait until my body starts losing that fat on its own, but in my experience its the last thing to go. (I lost weight when I played sports in highschool)
Would it be good to start doing some weight exercises and doing the bike on high resistance so I can build muscle in my legs, so that they burn more calories? Previously I kept up my upper body, but I rarely did cardio, I've only recently started doing regular cardio for the first time in 6 years, so I imagine besides supporting my weight my leg muscles are kind of weak.
Thanks in advance.
BTW: I've lost the weight by also cutting out sodas, chips, sweets, not eating "unnecessary" carbs (bread for hotdogs, sugar for teas/coffee), drinking plenty of water/green tea and trying to eat alot more veggies/protein- in addition exercising.
