Windows XP Professional is my OS.


Lately I've noticed the iexplore.exe Process staying within my processes list even after I've closed IE... Sometimes it's one or two instances of IE, and t hese processes are also sometimes using a vast amount of resources (up to 40 megs of memory) when there is no apparent instance of IE open.


I'm wondering if anyone has some ideas on what could be causing this? I've go tthe AVG virus checker and have scanned no viruses... so.. no ideas here.. I'm not very knowledgable about security but I'm very paranoid about the possibilities of something not good showing up on my system.
